  1. To configure the QuickContact control panel:

  3. 1. Open the QuickContact control panel by choosing Control Panels from the Apple menu and then locating and opening QuickContact. You can also open the control panel by clicking the QuickContact telephone icon in the menu bar while holding down the Command or Option key.

  5. If this is the first time you open the QuickContact control panel, a dialog box appears, prompting you to personalize the software. Type your name and (optionally) company name in the text fields, then click OK. You return to the control panel.

  7. 2. Select the On radio button (default) next to QuickContact Menu Icon. This activates QuickContact.

  9. 3. Choose a font from the Font pop-up menu. This is the font for Contacts and options, within the QuickContact menu.

  11. 4. Choose a size from the Size pop-up menu. This is the font size for QuickContact menu items.

  13. 5. Select the Show Phone Labels checkbox, if desired. Selecting this checkbox precedes the telephone numbers in the QuickContact menu and the QuickContact Find dialog box with a label indicating whether they are Work, Home, Fax or Mobile numbers (or a telephone number in a Custom Field).

  15. 6. Click the QuickFind Hotkey button. A dialog box appears where you specify a hotkey to open the QuickContact Find dialog box. The hotkey works whether Now Contact is running or not.

  17. 7. Press the desired key combination in the Enter Hotkey text field.

  19. Your hotkey can be any combination of letters and numbers plus one or more modifier keys (Shift, Command, Option, Control, or a function key). The key combination you press appears in the text field.

  21. 8. Click Done. Now Contact saves your hotkey. Press this key combination from any application to open the QuickContact Find dialog box.

  23. 9. Select an option from the Selecting item in menu pop-up menu.

  25. 10. Close the QuickContact control panel. Your QuickContact settings are saved.

  27. 11. Click the QuickContact icon in the menu bar. The QuickContact menu now lists any Contacts you specified to include there (by selecting the QuickContact checkbox in the Detail View).
